About My Clients
You’ve been scrolling through your IG feed for 3 hours now even though you said you’d meet your bestie for coffee. Your bills are overdue–not because you can't afford to pay them–but because you just can’t remember to pay them at the right time each month. You’ve already tried therapy. You think you'd probably forget to show up to a therapy appointment in the first place. That’s exactly what we will address: identifying your priorities and shifting your focus accordingly.
My Background and Approach
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies and Master’s Degree in Social Work, both from Portland State University. Major coursework included: LGBTQIAA+ Seniors, Housing, Racial Equity, and anti-oppressive clinical practices as a viable approach to mental health. I completed my studies in June of 2022. Prior to graduate school, I worked in a variety of settings including: in-home care, alternative healing, employment services for disabled adults, and childcare. I tend to have a very ‘direct’ approach in therapy and often ‘tell-it-like-it is,’ creating an environment of honesty in the session.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that empowerment brings about lasting change and that therapy is a process of cooperation between client and practitioner. Therefore, I prefer to connect with clients on an authentic, human-to-human level where transparency and vulnerability lead to sustained, positive change.
