About My Clients
I help guide patients challenged by depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment and relationship issues through a curious, compassionate, collaborative and integrative approach using cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, attachment-based therapy, evidence based trauma therapies, EMDR and other proven modalities. I have the interest and knowledge in working with a wide variety of people from different walks of life with the understanding that everyone has their own unique story.
My Background and Approach
I believe taking a more holistic approach rather than focusing on one aspect of your life is key. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 32 years as an actor, director, and writer in the performing arts. This experience has allowed me a unique understanding of human beings and how personalities are formed and expressed through relationships. Most importantly, I have learned to build rapport with others which is a vital aspect of therapy. In session, clients will explore and identify the negative stories they believe about themselves and change them through skill building and self-awareness. They will learn to use their strengths and gain the knowledge and skills to identify and modify the negative beliefs they hold about themselves and learn to thrive rather than survive. Let’s explore your challenges together so that you can take flight!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone is powerful, resourceful and knowledgable regardless of gender, race, sexual preference or economic standing. Yet our LIGHT has been hidden by fear, depression, anxiety, and often trauma. I believe many of the issues we harbor stem from unfulfilled childhood needs and environmental factors that oftentimes we had and have no control of. These blocks keep us from experiencing our true authentic selves because we get stuck in repetitive cycles that do not allow us to thrive. We find ourselves in the same toxic relationships with others, the world and especially ourselves. But this can all be unlearned because human beings have this unique ability to adapt in order to survive. I think once a client sees themselves in a different light, they start to change because they begin to understand that growth is a constant evolutionary movement towards their own enlightenment.
