About My Clients
I specialize in working with clients with eating and weight disorders, self-esteem issues, self-harm, depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I am clinically trained in EMDR and believe it is a technique that can help everyone, whether it's getting rid of a negative belief or reinforcing a positive one. I work with children, adolescents, and adults of every age.
My Background and Approach
After completing my MEd in Counseling, I worked for several years as a counselor for The Renfrew Center, where I worked with adolescent and adult clients presenting with eating and weight disorders, depression, anxiety, and other co-morbidities. After a critical health scare, after which I had to learn how to walk again, I knew that helping people, especially those who struggle with weight, body image, disordered eating, trauma, depression, and anxiety, was what I wanted to do. I gained more experience with other populations, training in play therapy, sand tray therapy, LGBTQIA issues, sexuality, grief counseling, and whole-person health and wellness. My focus is on holistic therapy, addressing the individual in terms of their mind, body, and spirit, which is helpful for people of all ages. I am a huge believer in the power of EMDR in treating trauma. There is no judgement or "advice giving" in therapy with me. Goals are reached by the client and the "client's brain" doing the work.
