About My Clients
I work well with clients whose concerns are related to substance use, addiction, relationship conflict, eating disorders, body image, and LGBTQ+ identity. I see both individuals and couples. Shame and fear of vulnerability are often at the core of mental health challenges. I have a deep understanding of these emotions and a warm and nonjudgmental presence in session.
My Background and Approach
I received a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. I have over 9 years of clinical experience with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, including Haight Ashbury Psychological Services, the Brandeis University Counseling Center, the Bedford VA Medical Center, and the Johns Hopkins University Counseling Center. I will take an in-depth history of your symptoms and life experiences before creating an individualized treatment plan focused on your goals. As Carl Rogers famously stated, “It’s the relationship that heals,” and I believe that each client needs to feel truly safe, seen, and accepted for therapy to be effective. After working with me you can expect not only a reduction in distressing symptoms, but an increased sense of self-awareness and self-confidence. I look forward to supporting you on your mental health journey!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to promoting equality and justice for those who are part of marginalized groups. I also promote body acceptance and believe in the Health at Every Size (HAES) paradigm. HAES is rooted in the philosophy that weight stigma is harmful to mental and physical health, and that people of all body shapes and sizes should treated with respect, dignity, and agency in health care settings.
