About My Clients
I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, trauma, and LGBT+ issues. I work across the lifespan with clients 14 and up. My ideal client might be thinking that their thoughts seem overwhelming to deal with and is looking to make some changes in their life to help manage stressful situations, life changes, or uncover the root of thoughts and behaviors they are looking to get rid of.
My Background and Approach
I use a person-centered eclectic approach to therapy. I work collaboratively with my clients to find what skills and techniques are best suited for them. I have experience working with modalities such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, TFCBT, and motivational interviewing. I take a trauma-informed approach to treatment and I am LGBTQIA affirming. I try to add humor, creativity, and warmth to all my sessions. This is all to say my goal is to teach some skills for you to take home from therapy, along with learning the causes of any behaviors, thoughts, or symptoms you may be experiencing and looking to change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that anyone who wants to change and has the motivation to change can do so. Therapy is an ongoing collaborative process where you are the expert of what is going on in your own head. The role of the therapist is to coach you through what is going on, helping to provide explanation and assistance where needed. I personally value social justice and welcome anyone who decides to work with me. I will not discriminate against anyone looking to make changes in their lives. I have experience and education on various issues BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ folx, and gender issues, and I volunteer where I can to help with my various beliefs. I love cats (and all animals), reading, cooking, and binge watching TV shows. I enjoy cooking but I am still building my skills as a chef. When I'm not working you can usually find me curled up with a good book or hosting friends for a movie night.
