Dr. Li believes in a culturally-sensitive and integrative approach to therapy and consultation. Her therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic conceptualization with evidence-based interventions including those from dialectical behavior therapy, mindful self-compassion, and solution-focused therapy.
My Background and Approach
Yi-Xian earned her doctoral and master's degrees (Psy.D., M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA and a bachelor's degree in East Asian Studies from Brandeis University. Prior to her current career in psychology, Dr. Li worked in media strategy and advertising in Beijing and Shanghai, China. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the UCSF Faculty & Staff Assistance Program where she worked with physicians, faculty, nurses, administrators, and other UCSF staff members in therapy, as well as provided multiple psycho-educational presentations to departments in need. Yi-Xian completed her predoctoral internship at the Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center where she worked with adult patients at the main inpatient hospital and on the Crisis Response Team, along with working with adults in therapy and conducting ADHD assessments.
