About My Clients
I see children as young as 8, adolescents, and adults as well as couples and families. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression or a troubling relationship, I can work with you to build the coping skills to increase your well-being and move from surviving to thriving.
My Background and Approach
I use evidence-based counseling practices tailored to your needs that are proven to improve mental health and well-being including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy. Before graduate school, I spent 10 years teaching yoga and fitness, so I use mindfulness and a holistic perspective that recognizes the interconnection between our mental health, physical bodies, and our spiritual nature. My goal is to provide a safe and compassionate place for you to heal
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We have the capacity to flourish, yet humans are prewired to focus on threats and survival, which often makes for a pretty miserable existence. I am part of a research team that studies positive psychology, the study of human flourishing. I believe a full life involves getting in touch with what brings you purpose and meaning, fostering supportive relationships and interconnectedness, and learning to love and accept yourself through self-compassion and mindful self-appreciation. These are skills that can be learned, and I can give you the tools to take your life from suffering to peace.
