About My Clients
Feeling down lately? Getting a bit anxious when you have to leave the house? Is the thought of trying to figure out what to have for dinner so overwhelming you decide to lay on the couch and scroll Facebook instead? In today's fast paced world those are not uncommon experiences. I want to walk alongside as you gain tools and resources to solve your problems and overcome the situations that bind you in.
My Background and Approach
I emphasize a solution focused approach assisting you to identify the goals you want to work on today and moving toward them in a purposeful manner together. I have over 10 years experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups all with the same goal- to develop skills to allow them to be successful no matter what obstacles they face. I have worked at both the inpatient and outpatient levels providing me a better understanding of the differing needs people have based on their current symptomology and expressed goals. I utilize a number of different theories and modalities including Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Mindfulness, meditation, movement focused, and Narrative Therapy to ensure you have all the tools in your toolbox by the time you leave therapy to not just survive but thrive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I do not believe one has to have a label to be able to gain better insight and tools to survive in this world. I practice from a person centered approach believing that all people are capable of making positive change in their lives and my role is to accompany those individuals to allow them to access knowledge they already possess. What I do believe is that soccer is the world's sport and baseball should not be allowed to have a World Series if only the USA is eligible. I believe animals are the best of us all and my goal is to someday open a bully breed dog rescue and Airbnb. I believe that no matter what one's gender (a social construct mind you), race and ethnicity (also social constructs), education level, sexual orientation, mental illness, religion, hair color, or any other of the myriad of ways we are all different does not change one's rights as a human being. Everyone deserves respect, understanding and acceptance. I hope I can be that acceptance for you.
