About My Clients
Relationships are complex. In some moments we may be feeling connected, heard, and understood. In other moments, we may be feeling disrespected, hurt, and abandoned. My ideal client is wanting to be more aware of relational patterns so that they can recreate the moments they desire most. The activities I complete can be done with parents, children, romantic partners, extended family, and friends. In our time, we will co-create a series of choices that can be done consistently and feel authentic.
My Background and Approach
My approach is viewing the relationships we have with others and ourselves as cycles. Cycles can be defined as patterns of responses where person A’s and B’s actions impact each other. Here is an example: If person A starts being critical of person B, then person B will respond with defensiveness, and then person A may respond with more criticism. Some cycles can help us to go about our days and overcome stressful life events. Over time however, some cycles may no longer be serving us and lead to undesirable outcomes. No type of cycle defines our relationship and who we are; but they can promote how connected we feel to ourselves and others. I want to be here to understand the cycles within all your relationships, what has led up to their formation, and promote cycles of connection. My experience includes working in group private practices, community mental health agencies, school based services, and IOP. I enjoy working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the right to be in relationships where they are treated with love and respect. I do not believe it is okay to discriminate against and marginalize people for their identities and relationships. I believe it is important for people to take accountability and be responsible for amending any hurt they cause in relationships. My passion is fostering dialogue that is collaborative where differences are appreciated, concerns are heard, and situations are amended together. I think it important to advocate for spaces within our community where people have power with each other, not over each other. We are all deserving to live out our lives authentically without being told who we should be. I appreciate people for all areas of their cultural identities including their gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicity, racial identities, physical abilities, socioeconomic status, and age.
