About My Clients
If you find yourself regularly: checking, counting, ordering, cleaning, repeating certain words or phrases, tapping, or repeatedly seeking reassurance - I will be able to help. These are all symptoms of OCD, and something I can help you through with empathy and understanding. Together, we will learn more about the diagnosis and how to best tackle the compulsions and obsessions you are experiencing. Other areas of my expertise include: other anxiety diagnoses, and chronic pain/illness.
My Background and Approach
I am originally from the West, growing up in Nevada and attending the University of California, Davis for undergraduate. There I majored in human development and earned a minor in psychology. From there, I moved to Chicago to attend graduate school at the University of Chicago. Through my graduate teachings and subsequent interaction with clients, I approach therapy primarily using ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), which is a type of CBT. I also specialize in ERP, specifically meant for the treatment of OCD and other anxiety diagnoses. I like to approach therapy in a more casual manner, and focus on the relationship between myself and the client. Together, we can work to identify your current obstacles, but more importantly, your strengths. From there, we will work towards your goals in a way that feels authentic to your journey and values.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe all people are capable of change, and deserving of a fulfilling and meaningful life. However, we often feel stuck and incapable of making moves forward. No matter how stuck or hopeless you may feel, therapy aims to get you in touch with your true values and that part of you (however small) that wants what is best for you. Above all, therapy should feel like an empowering and open space for you to explore what feels most important.
