About My Clients
My ideal clients are open-minded and ready to talk about the things that are holding them back in life. Healing from trauma, depression, anxiety, or any mental health issue is a journey of self-acceptance, and you deserve support along that journey. My ideal client will be open to the possibility of a better relationship with themself through challenging their negative self-talk and limiting self-beliefs.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in volunteer crisis counseling (for the Crisis Text Line and the Trevor Project) and mental health advocacy. I also have personal experience battling with mental health issues and transforming my own mental health. It can be a long journey, but healing is possible. It helps a lot to have someone alongside you who can assist you in navigating that journey. I use a person-centered approach where I view you as the expert on your own life, while I am a collaborative assistant to help you fill in your knowledge gaps about mental health. You can't hate or shame yourself into the changes you want to see in your life, and I'll help you learn to love yourself (or at least be a little kinder to yourself) to become the version of yourself you want to be. Life is hard enough without any extra baggage weighing you down. Together, we'll identify what's actually helpful for you and what you can leave behind.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It's difficult to be a well-adjusted, healthy human being in today's world all on our own. It's not at all uncommon to deal with anxiety, depression, trauma, or insecurities that make life more difficult than it needs to be. I believe that our past experiences shape the thoughts we think, the beliefs we hold, and ultimately how we perceive the world around us and what happens to us. Luckily, we don't have to stay trapped in the past, though - with intentional effort, we can change the filters we see life through. That's not to say that life won't still hold very real difficulties and challenges, but we can change the relationship we have with the world around us and how we think and feel about things. I'm a BIPOC and LGBTQ+ ally with volunteer experience at Crisis Text Line and the Trevor Project. I believe everyone deserves access to mental health care and support. Everyone deserves to be listened to. I'd be honored to support your mental health goals.
