Depression is the most common problem that I see in clinical practice, and I work collaboratively with (MD) psychiatrists when needed. I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy primarily, but also approach this with a perspective of Developmental Issues and Existential Issues, as each phase of life carries with it some risk of depression for that stage. I use a variety of approaches to customize depression treatment for each person.

As a gay man myself, I decided years ago to dedicate my professional life to health, dignity, and well-being of the LGBT community in general and gay men in particular, especially after my experience working with people during the height of the AIDS crisis in the 1980's, 90's, and on. I am an expert in Men's Psychology and more specifically gay men's psychology, in helping each guy work toward his total potential, both personally and professionally.

I am a kink-affirmative therapist, and I challenge the stigmatizing and commercially-hyped charlatanism of "sex addiction treatment", which is not a genuine clinical diagnosis, and its "treatment" is not evidence-based practice. I offer a positive, affirming alternative approach to helping people who have questions, conflicts, or discomforts along the way about anything in their sex life or domestic life, including relationships with one or more partners.

I apply and use a "new school" approach to psychodynamic therapy, which can be explained as it is applied for each client, in sessions. I bridge the research from the past, with what we know in the present day, on the limitations of "old school" psychotherapy. I help clients to understand how many factors contribute to their current situation, and how they can improve their lives by understanding many life influencers and dynamics.

I use and apply CBT in helping clients to understand how to improve their lives, personally and professionally, by helping clients understand how their thoughts influence their feelings, and their feelings influence their behaviors, to ultimately affect their life. To change your life, you have to start by changing your thoughts, for the better. There are many life challenges and situations that benefit from being taught CBT tools that give real improvement to life.

Although I've been practicing therapy for over 31 years, I stay current with "cutting-edge" research and techniques, so that my clients get the benefit of years of clinical experience and applied research. Coaching is modern, cutting-edge, and appropriate for today's client who doesn't have the time or money to undergo 5-day-a-week psychoanalysis. Today's clients want results as soon as possible, and the Coaching model helps them to achieve improvement quickly.
