My Background and Approach
Welcome! A little about me: I got my B.A. in Political Science & International Relations at U.C. Santa Barbara. I earned my first M.A. in Asian Studies from C.S.U. Long Beach & my second M.A. in Psychology from Phillips Graduate University. I became a therapist after understanding the unique needs of my now adult children. I lived & traveled throughout Asia & still love to travel. My educational background & personal life experience give me a unique multi-cultural and worldly perspective. I offer serious help that doesn't take itself too seriously! I use warmth, empathy and sometimes humor to meet you where you are without judgement. I will follow your lead when appropriate & am direct when needed. I use family systems (because no one grows up in a vacuum), cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, attachment theory and Gottman and mindfulness practices.
