About My Clients
Whether you're experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction or any unique combination of stressors, I enjoy supporting people going through the full range of life's challenges. We may be a good fit if you're tired of traditional 'talk therapy' techniques that only offer bandaid solutions, particularly if your difficulties are driven by larger systemic problems. I also specialize in supporting the LGBTQ+ community, including offering gender and poly affirming care.
My Background and Approach
Rather than solely focusing on your diagnosis, we will work together to understand the root causes of your symptoms and co-create an actionable path towards healing. We will simultaneously collaborate to create a sense of an inner compass that you can utilize to build a life that feels alive and aligned with your values. My aspiration is to support you in moving towards a deeper sense of intimacy and connection with both your inner world and the world around you. I take a holistic approach that invites you to bring your whole self to each session, including all of the identities, relationships, environments and systems that impact your life. Our work together will draw on an eclectic array of therapeutic techniques, including evidence-based somatic and mindfulness-based practices like IFS and ACT.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I deeply resonate with the core social work approach of 'person-in-environment' that holds that our environment is essential both to understand why we're feeling what we're feeling and how to make sustainable and lasting changes. Rather than asking 'what's wrong with you?,' I prefer to ask 'what has happened and is happening to you?' My work as a psychotherapist and social worker is deeply inspired and informed by my own practice of engaged spirituality and contemplative mindfulness. As an active member of Thich Nhat Hanh's community of Engaged Buddhism, Plum Village, I have an aspiration to weave together my interests in accessible mental health, climate justice and engaged spirituality. Outside of my work as a therapist, I am an organic farmer and facilitator of mindfulness, deep ecology and climate grief workshops. I am also a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance and offer specialized support for people experiencing distress from the climate crisis.
