About My Clients
I am experienced in working with adults (18+) from diverse identities, backgrounds, and experiences, ranging in age from 18 to 60. I welcome all religions, political affiliations, gender identities, and sexual identities into my therapy room. I specialize in working with fellow therapists, healthcare professionals, those who identify as men+, first responders and law enforcement, military personnel, adults (including college students and post-grads), and survivors of trauma and abuse.
My Background and Approach
Before entering the field of mental health, I worked a variety of service-oriented professional roles as a small business owner and entrepreneur, including as a life coach, writing and story coach, workshop facilitator, speaker, professional writer, registered yoga teacher (RYT-200, YACEP), and copywriting marketer. Throughout this time, I supported the personal growth, self-discovery, and wellness goals of more than 300 clients over thousands of dedicated hours of one-on-one work. I also taught thousands of students in yoga classes, writing workshops, and destination retreats across four continents. Since 2009, my narrative-based writing and storytelling have been read by hundreds of thousands of readers from over 160 countries. Today, my supervisors and colleagues agree that these non-clinical experiences have supported rapid development and advanced proficiencies at a higher level of clinical ability than they would otherwise expect of first-time clinicians.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As an innately curious person, I’ve been listening to the stories and experiences of people for my whole—well before I became a therapist. That’s why I bring a lot of compassion, deeply attentive listening, and relentless understanding into my counseling room. But listening is just part of the therapeutic equation. I love to help my clients delve deeper into their own unique understanding for their struggles—and, how their hopes, goals, dreams, and strengths also comprise their unique senses of “self.” “Deeper” is the keyword. As a skilled listener, Highly Sensitive Person, and former coach and professional communicator with worlds of experience in everything from entrepreneurship to nonprofits, politics and community outreach, yoga, and beyond, I have the unique ability to help clients identify pieces of the proverbial “puzzle” of their lives. And, I help clients start to organize a fuller, more whole, more complete picture of who they truly are.
